The One Rule: Don’t Stay Near Interlagos
This comes up in every guide written about the São Paulo Grand Prix and it’s worth stating clearly. The area surrounding the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos has limited accommodation options, almost no good restaurants or bars, and presents security concerns that make it unsuitable for tourists — particularly during race weekend when opportunist crime increases in the area.
The circuit is in the southern suburbs of São Paulo, roughly 25km from the center. Line 5 (Lilac) of the São Paulo Metro runs directly to Autódromo station. The journey from Paulista Avenue takes approximately 40 minutes with one transfer. This is the transport equation you should plan around — not proximity to the circuit.

Jardins / Avenida Paulista — Top Recommendation
Paulista Avenue is the recommendation you’ll find in every serious F1 guide for São Paulo, and for good reason. It’s close to the Paulista metro station on Line 2, which connects directly to the Line 5 interchange for Interlagos. The street itself is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. The MASP art museum is here. It’s the most international-facing neighborhood in the city and the one most acclimatized to handling visiting F1 fans and teams.
Jardins, immediately adjacent to Paulista, is São Paulo’s upscale residential and dining district — quieter streets, excellent restaurants, and the city’s best boutique hotels. The F1 Experiences official hotel package typically uses the Renaissance São Paulo on Paulista Avenue.

Pinheiros and Vila Madalena are the most interesting neighborhoods in São Paulo for visitors who want to experience the city beyond the race. Street art, independent restaurants, bars, live music venues, and galleries are concentrated here in a walkable area. The famous Beco do Batman street art alley is in Vila Madalena. The nightlife runs late — São Paulo’s bar scene starts properly after midnight.
The tradeoff is distance — roughly 50 minutes by metro to the circuit with one transfer. For visitors who want to immerse in São Paulo culture between sessions, it’s worth it. For those focused purely on the race, Paulista is more convenient.

How to Get to Interlagos →Campo Belo / Brooklin
Campo Belo is the closest recommended neighborhood to Interlagos that is still considered suitable for tourists. About 35 minutes by metro to the circuit — the shortest journey of any central neighborhood. It’s adjacent to São Paulo Congonhas Airport, making it the best choice for visitors flying out on the Monday morning after the race.
The tradeoff is atmosphere — Campo Belo is a business district without much character. Good quality mid-range hotels, easy transport, convenient for the airport. If the race is the priority and you’re not interested in exploring São Paulo, this works well.

Morumbi
Morumbi is where most Formula 1 teams and paddock personnel stay during race weekend — which adds a certain energy to the area if you’re interested in spotting team personnel. It’s a quieter, more residential business district without much in the way of restaurants or nightlife. The Grand Hyatt São Paulo is the most prominent team hotel here.
Worth mentioning: Ayrton Senna is buried at Morumbi Cemetery, which is a meaningful visit for F1 fans. Transport to Interlagos is the longest of any recommended area — about 55 minutes by metro and bus.

Booking Tips
- Book now. November 6–8, 2026 is a race weekend in one of the world’s largest cities. Hotels on Paulista Avenue and in Jardins are already selling. Waiting until October means paying significantly more for worse rooms.
- Book close to a metro station. The metro is the only reliable way to get to Interlagos on race day. Prioritize hotels within a 10-minute walk of a Line 2 or Line 4 station — both connect to Line 5 for the circuit.
- Consider the F1 Experiences package. It combines a grandstand ticket or Paddock Club with a hotel on Paulista Avenue and daily coach transfers to Interlagos. More expensive than booking separately but removes all transport logistics.
- Check cancellation policies. Race weekends are non-refundable at most properties once you’re within 60 days. Read the terms before confirming.
- Minimum 3 nights. Most hotels enforce a 3-night minimum for race weekend — Friday to Sunday, checking out Monday.
