Accommodation Costs in Pipa
Food and Drink Costs
Pipa’s village restaurant scene — better than you’d expect for a small beach village, with fresh seafood at prices well below Natal or Fortaleza.
Budget eating — $4–10 per meal
The village has a few spots serving generous lunch plates (prato feito) for R$25–40 — rice, beans, protein, and salad. Tapioca vendors and acaí bowls on the main street fill gaps cheaply. Beach barracas serve simpler food at reasonable prices during the day.
Mid-range — $12–30 per meal
The main street restaurants in Pipa are genuinely good for a village of this size. Fresh seafood — shrimp, lobster, and fish — is the standout. A main course runs R$45–90 (~$9–18 USD). Portions are typically large enough for two to share as a starter.
Drinks
Beer at a beach barraca: R$8–12 (~$1.50–2.50 USD). Caipirinha at a village bar: R$20–30 (~$4–6 USD). Fresh coconut water: R$8–10 (~$1.50–2 USD). The terrace bars on the main street charge slightly more for the view — R$25–35 per caipirinha is normal.
Getting There and Around
From Natal
Pipa is about 85km south of Natal — roughly 1.5 hours by car. Options from Natal:
- Shared van (fretado) — R$25–35 per person from the bus station area. Slowest but cheapest.
- Uber — R$90–130 for the full car (~$18–26 USD). Comfortable and direct. The most practical option for 2+ people.
- Rental car — from R$100–160/day at Natal airport. Worth it if you plan day trips outside Pipa.
Getting around Pipa
The village is walkable — you don’t need transport to reach any of the main beaches. For day trips to Sibaúma or Lagoa de Guaraíras, buggies are the standard option — R$120–200 per buggy for a half-day circuit, split between up to four people.
